Drink ALCOHOL

So, we (myself and two other Muslims) were having a discussion about ALCOHOL sometime last month, and I ignorantly said "Allah does not even tell us not to drink ALCOHOL, He only said its benefits is far lesser than its detriment", none of those two others countered my assertion and we moved on to other issues.

The Quranic Passage that came to my mind was actually in Chapter 2: verse 219. It has been a very long time I revised (read/study) my Quran, so I have unconsciously somehow forgotten exactly what was written in that verse, hence quoting it wrongly, very wrongly.

Quran 2 (Sarah Albaqorah) : Verse 219 says... "They question thee about strong drink (ALCOHOL) and game of chance. Say: In both is great SIN, and (some) utility for men, but the SIN of them is greater than their usefulness."

According to my Quranic understanding, this simply means Muslims are not allowed to drink pure ALCOHOL, mix it with other soft drinks or use it to soak some herbal leaves and roots to cure illness.

This is a reminder to myself first and other Muslims to henceforth read and study more of Qur'an often for refreshment/updating of our Islamic knowledge and for learning more about what is forbidden by Allah and knowing more of what is prescribed for us that we may practice Islam the way it pleases our Creator.

May Allah make understanding of The Noble Qur'an easy for me and you, may it be easier for us to move away from what is forbidden and easiest to put what we've known to best practices and may Allah (swt) accept all our acts of Ibadah and reward us with Paradise, Allahumma aamin.

We are Stuck

It is WORRISOME as we keep talking daily about the irregularities of those at the helms of affairs in NIGERIA, we CRITICIZE day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year. THINGS are still the same, no CHANGE.

Those leaders (from Councilor, LG Chairman to the President) seem to have developed deaf ears, to the extent that they do not CARE anymore for the suffering masses that voted them to office, except on few occasions when they want to renew their LIES, you will hear "We are fully committed to take Nigeria to greater heights".

Most of the government officials have truly taken Nigeria to greater heights, when you talk about gross misconducts, such as embezzlement, bribery and etc. They seem to have no concern about the rising number of unemployment amongst the Nigerian youth.

The general public are not helping matters either, they have divided amongst Political Party Lines.
Whenever there's allegation of corruption or misconducts against a PDP member, many people will start queueing behind him/her to shout "PERSECUTION and or PROPAGANDA".
Also whenever there's same against a member of the ruling APC, you will still find so many people defending and dismissing such allegations as mere "RUMORS" without attempting to investigate further.

Well, those of us that keep blaming PDP and praising APC and those that keep blaming APC and defending the PDP for the WOES of Nigeria are a big factor that  would prevent us from getting out of this mess for a very long time to come.

Let us just admit collectively that majority of the past leaders and present were the real troubles of this nation, and if we can't get rid of them constitutionally, we are stuck forever.
